FAQ's

Questions & Answers

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept Medicare, Medicaid or any third party insurance. All tests are for screening purposes only. Unfortunately our insurance society doesn't make it easy for women and often doesn't want to pay for most screening studies. We provide easy access and an affordable screening of the entire breast. Despite the limits and barriers women face to access this important technology, now it is possible to do more for your breast health.

Do I still need a mammogram?

We advocate to do all you can do for your breast health including Breast Ultrasound. By adding Ultrasound, you increase detection from approximately 48% – 97%. According to www.AreYouDense.org - 'Studies confirm that mammography misses every other cancer in dense breasts.' The problem is nearly half the female population in this country have dense breast tissue, and unfortunately mammogram cannot see well enough through dense breast tissue. Along with Ultrasound, good breast health requires you to participate in regular physician guided exams, self breast examination, recommended annual mammograms, or breast MRI.

Are your tests read by a Radiologist?

Our Board Certified Radiologists in breast imaging read all test screening results.

Are your Sonographers credentialed?

We have Registered (RDMS, RVT) Sonographers.

At what age is this recommended?

With Ultrasound it's any age. Mammography starts at age 40 to 50, because young women have dense breast and mammography cannot see well through dense breast. Ultrasound sees very well through dense breast. And with Ultrasound there is No Radiation, which is another big factor for younger women to get scanned. We've scanned women in their 20's, especially when they had a history of breast cancer in their family.

How long does it take?

It only takes 15 minutes, we get you in and out quickly.

Can I have this test if I'm Breastfeeding?

Yes, it's okay to get a Breast Ultrasound when Breastfeeding. There is no radiation with an Ultrasound.

What are dense breasts?

Dense breast tissue is comprised of less fat and more connective tissue which appears white on a mammogram. Cancer also appears white thus tumors are often hidden by the dense tissue. It's like finding a snowball in a snowstorm and why many women get false negative mammogram reports. As a woman ages, her breasts usually become more fatty. However, 2/3 of pre-menopausal and 1/4 of post menopausal women (40%) have dense breast tissue. Radiologists have been reporting a woman's dense breast tissue to her referring doctor for 20 years. Most often, that information is not conveyed to the patient. Ask your doctor if you have dense breasts.
Women with dense breasts can increase their detection by approximately 47% to 98% by adding an ultrasound to their yearly routine. Breasts tend to be more dense in younger women, that's why you're never too young to start yearly ultrasound screenings. Early detection saves lives!

When do I get my results?

Results are mailed directly to you, at the address you fill out on your paperwork, in approximately 12-14 business days. We send them out as soon as the Radiologist has finished reading them.
